PROCEDURE FOR ADAPTING THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS TO STUDENTS' SPECIFIC NEEDS

The procedure for adapting the teaching process to the specific needs of the student during a foreign language course conducted by the Centre for Languages and Certification of the University of Lodz

The basis for adapting the teaching process to a student with special needs taking part in a foreign language course conducted by the Foreign Language Center of the University of Lodz is always the opinion of the Academic Support Center of the University of Lodz (ACW UŁ), containing a description of these needs and instructions for working with the student. The opinion is issued for a specific period of time and must be valid.

The student should first contact the University of Lodz Academic Support Center to have their needs identified and to receive the above-mentioned opinion.

In cases where the lecturer notices that the student requires additional support with a subject, he or she may also suggest to the student that they should contact the Academic Support Center of the University of Lodz.

The ACW opinion is a document that belongs to the student. If he or she decides to present it to the lecturer, the procedure is as follows

    1. The person contacts the LECTURER. The lecturer get access to the ACW opinion, which he or she is obliged to read in order to adapt the teaching process and forms of assessment during the course to the student's abilities and needs. The lecturer is responsible for implementation of this task , as he or she will be best able to assess how the student behaves and fits in the group having contact with him on a daily basis.
    2. In case of doubts or difficulties in meeting the student's specific needs, please contact the coordinator for students with special needs:Emilia Jurkiewicz-Majek emilia.majek@uni.lodz.pl
    3. During an individual meeting, the language teacher should also inform the student about the possibility of talking with the above-mentioned coordinator.

PROCEDURE FOR THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE CURRICULUM EXAMINATION<

If it is necessary to make some changes in the form of the curriculum examination at the end of the language course, as suggested in ACW's opinion, the final decision is made by the Director of the Foreign Language Center of Łódź University (SJO UŁ) after receiving an appropriate application from the student (APPLICATION FORM to be downloaded). Such an application must include a copy of the ACW opinion and a description of the type of support the student wants to receive during the exam in accordance with the above-mentioned opinion, e.g. extended examination time, writing the exam in a separate room, etc. Such an application addressed to the Director of SJO, preferably with a short opinion of the lecturer ( e.g. I SUPPORT the request) should reflect the student's actual needs. It should be submitted to the CJiC UŁ or sent electronically to cjic@unil.lodz.pl no later than 30 days before the exam date.

After the application is considered by the Director of CJiC UŁ, the language teacher will receive feedback information from the coordinator for students with special needs regarding necessary adaptations.
