A three-month international virtual language exchange project came to an end on 28 May 2026. It was created through the collaboration of language centres from six universities in Poland and Ukraine: the University of Lodz, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Warsaw University of Technology, Silesian University of Technology, Lviv Polytechnic National University and Sumy State University.

The aim of the project was to develop participants’ language competences while working on topics prepared in the form of presentations or posters addressing selected issues within the areas of smart cities, sustainable development goals, transcultural competence and cultural values.

Students from Poland and Ukraine were divided into international working groups and jointly developed selected topics online under the supervision of lecturers/project coordinators. The working language of the project was English. The prepared presentations were delivered jointly by their authors during an online conference held on 28 May on the Zoom platform.

The Centre for Languages and Certification (CJiC) was represented in the project by mgr Krystyna Krzemińska and the students attending her English language course.
The project task became not only a part of the teaching programme but, above all, a modern and practical tool for developing language skills in an authentic context, preparing participants for the challenges of the contemporary labour market. The project also enabled students to establish new contacts, exchange experiences with peers from other universities, develop sensitivity to intercultural differences and enhance their communication, digital, and teamwork skills. Each participant received a certificate summarising their achievements.
Well done CJiC!
